Hero is a bear I made at Build-A-Bear Workshop and sent to Iraq to serve as the mascot of the Safety Office at Balad Air Base.  Soon the troops started sending us photos of Hero being a soldier.  To date Hero has spent over four years in Iraq and two years in Afghanistan.  Hero will be making another year long trip to Afghanistan in August of 2010.  Please enjoy the photos of Hero being a soldier and feel free to use them to help children better understand what it is like to be a soldier in a more kid friendly way.  The Hero Hugs President, Bailey has written a book about Hero's Adventures she hopes to someday publish and turn into a series that will teach kids about life in the military!
